Using Metatags for SEO

Metatags are the last thing you should optimize. they have little contribution in seo. among all description metag should be used and you can avoid other if you are in hurry.
Metatags are special types of tag that store information which are especially for the browser and hidden form users. Html Metatags conventionally appears at the top of the source code in the head section. There are different types metatags used, some of them are as follow:
- Description metatag
- Keyword metatag
- Content metatag
- Language metatag
- Copyright metatag
- Generator metatag
Description metatag
The use of metatags for seo once was popular. But frankly speaking now a days they have a little value on seo optimization. But not zero hence we will see about them briefly. Among all metatags we can sort out some important metatag.
Syntax of description metatag is <meta name=”description” content=”xxxxxxxxxxxxx” />. Description Metatag has its importance in SEO compared with other metatags. It is a simple description of a webpage. This tag is used to provide text in search result. The snippet of text underneath the link can be the description metatag.
It is seen that metatag description is found on the snippet text when the search query or searched keyword match with tag keyword. So of course use keyword on the description metatag otherwise it will have no value of using. And normally we see search engines provide text which arbitrarily taken from the body text.
Keyword metatag
It surprised many that keyword metatag got the least importance in SEO. Search engines stops paying attention in keyword metatag a long time ago; it is because site owner starts keyword stuffing through this metatag only for getting traffic on their site. You can put it as it does no harm, but don't give too much time on it.
Robot Metatag
The robot metatag is used to tell search engines not to index or follow the page. It can also be used to tell the search engine to index or follow the page. But these day it doesn't matter. By default search engines index all the pages one by one according to its capasity. There is also GOOGLEBOT metatag which also can be used to tell not to archive or cache your web pages.
Other Metags
There is also geo Metatags which can be used to specify specific location. This Metatags are helpful in case you need to optimize your page locally. There are also author Metatag used to specify the author, Copyright Metatag to specify the copyright rights.
